How Modifying Your Content Can Help Push You To The Top Of The Search Engines

Rewriting your content sounds boring, and it is. It's also a lot of work, but it can help move you to the top of Google. Search Engines tend to reward unique content therefore the the process of modifying our templated articles can be the difference between making big bucks online or making peanuts. The quicker you realize the power of rewriting content, the quicker you will be on your way to better search results.

Google suggests that your content be unique across the internet. If it suspects any of your content is "duplicated" elsewhere, it may lower your rankings. Fear not - we have 'protected' your content with Canonical Tags admitting to the Search Engines that we know it is duplicate content until you have a chance to modify your content (Research Center Pages & possibly some Quote Pages, not part of your custom 9 pages).

Rewrite Content Quickly

Rewriting content quickly will help you maximize your potential income. This does not however, mean you should sloppily rush through. Rewriting an article should only take you a few minutes, depending on its length. The balance you are trying to strike here is reusing as much of your previous work as you can, without upsetting the search engines with duplicate content. The method we found most effective is very simple. Just follow these steps:

  • Rewrite your articles title and/or headline
  • Rewrite the entire first paragraph. It only has to be 3-5 sentences. A claims story is a great way to begin an article.
  • Rewrite the entire last paragraph
  • Use your keywords as Anchor Text and internal link to your other insurance niche pages.
  • Localize the content from top to bottom by adding city and state to the content.
  • Finally, add a few new sentences in your middle paragraphs

Note: This is only for very quick rewrites. If you have time, use the following more in depth method it is far more reliable.

How to fully rewrite an article.

If you have the time, the following method of rewriting an article is ideal. This should take anywhere from 15-20 minutes but guarantees that all of your material is original. This will be beneficial not only for your search engine rankings, but for your readers as well. Always make sure you are focused on the reader, good content keeps people coming back.

  1. Read the entire article again. As time passes you may not fully remember what the article was about. Having the entire context of the article fresh in your mind should benefit you immensely when rewriting.
  2. Create a new, catchy headline. The headline is very important. Make sure you have a clear, benefit-driven title that will grab the readers attention and include a keyword that you are trying to rank for (ie. Home Insurance, Bend Car Insurance, Oregon Contractors Insurance).
  3. Perfect your subheading and introduction. Your subheading and brief introduction to what your article is about should be dense with keywords about your article. Search engines love subheadings and introductions because it is a concise description of what the article is about.
  4. Bold and Italicize. If you bold and italicize your keywords once or twice in your article, it provides a very small boost in search engine rankings.
  5. Split your article into multiple sections. If you break your article up into 2-3 sections with new keyword rich headlines for each, you will make your article more pleasant to both the viewer and to the search engine.
  6. Add a simple list. Further break your article up with a simple bullet pointed list related to your articles content. People like lists because they are easy to read and search engines like them because you are offering even more information to the reader. If it is possible to create any sort of list for your article, then do it! Lists are very easy to create and they offer more unique content.
  7. Fully rewrite the last paragraph. Create an entirely new final paragraph summarizing your article. The less duplication the better.
  8. Prompt a Call-To-Action from the reader at the end of the article. (ie. "Call", "Email", a button) This can simply be linking back to your blog, another article or to the top of the page to fill out the quote form. Good articles convert traffic into sales.
  9. Add links throughout your article. Find and add relevant links throughout your article, don't over do it, but make sure your article links to plenty of relevant content within your own DIO. This really adds value and depth to your article.
  10. Review your article before publicizing. Sometimes when rewriting content, you will make grammar errors and other simple mistakes because you are trying to reword things. This is a normal problem most writers have and can be resolved by simply doing a quick review of your article and reading it to yourself.
