Learn the relationship between HawkSoft’s Preferred Name field, the system’s Nickname field, and the way all of that data syncs into Fuse.
This article covers specific details related to your HawkSoft integration with Fuse. If you’re looking for instructions on how to connect HawkSoft to Fuse, please review this Help Center article.
HawkSoft’s Nickname Field Is Now the Preferred Name Field
With the latest version of HawkSoft, the “Nickname” field has been renamed to “Preferred Name.” This means that Fuse receives the “Preferred Name” field, but within the Fuse product, it is still referred to as “Nickname.”
How to Use the HawkSoft Preferred Name Field in Fuse
Fuse receives the “Preferred Name” field from HawkSoft and maps it to “Nickname” within Fuse. Also, by default, if the Preferred Name is populated in HawkSoft, it maps to the “First Name” field within Fuse (if it is empty, Fuse will instead get the “First Name” from HawkSoft’s “First Name” field).
If you would prefer not to map “Preferred Name” to the “First Name” field, please let our team know so we can update your settings so that “First Name” in Fuse only maps from “First Name” in HawkSoft.
To use the “Preferred Name” field from HawkSoft in your Fuse emails, simply use the standard [Account > First Name] merge field as you would normally.
For every recipient of your Fuse email, if there is a “Preferred Name” for them in HawkSoft, the merge field will populate that name. If not, then the merge field will populate the fallback for [Account > First Name].
