How to Set Up an Email

Creating an email in Fuse from start to finish

While Fuse has a robust Content Library, you may want to create your own emails from scratch.

In this article, we will go over the essential components of creating an email within Fuse, including selecting an email sender, adding merge fields, updating the email sender, and more.

Creating an Email

There are two options to get to the Fuse email builder and start a new email from scratch.

To send a Broadcast, navigate to Marketing, Broadcasts and start an email broadcast by selecting the send button and select the "Broadcast" option.

Next, on the right side of the screen, click the orange Send icon, and select “Send Email” from the dropdown options.

Finally, when prompted, click the “Start From Scratch” option to enter the email builder.

Alternatively, you can start a Custom Campaign from the sidebar. From the Custom Campaign screen, you can add an email step to a sequence. For this option, also select "Start From Scratch."

Selecting an Email Sender

The email sender is an important part of your email. Your options are Account Rep, Producer, or you can choose a Specific Employee that has been configured within Fuse.

If you don't see the correct user to send from, please review the below article to help you add a new user into Fuse.

Note: You may also send an email based on the Policy-level rep. For more details, please review this help article.

Selecting the Email Recipient

To the right of the sender, you will see an option to configure the email recipient for the specific audience for your email. This is not where you select your audience segment.

The options for the email recipient are as follows.

Account > Primary: The email will only be sent to the primary email address on the account.

Account > Primary and Secondary Contacts: The email will send to the primary and secondary contacts within the account.

Account > Only Secondary Contacts: The email will only send to the secondary contacts within the account.

Adding Components and Merge Fields Into Your Email

Now that we’ve configured who is going to send and receive your email, we can start building the email out using the Components in the Fuse email builder. Navigate to the left side of the screen to see all the options.

Clicking any of these options will automatically add it into your drafted email in the center of your screen. These will be added to the bottom of the email builder; you may also drag and drop the components into the builder as well.

An Overview of Fuse Email Components

Text: A simple text box for adding in your email content.

Divider: A dividing line to break up longer content sections.

Image: An image may be selected for upload upon clicking this option, either from the image library in Fuse, or from your personal computer.

Button: A linkable button with customizable text. This is great for adding external links into your email.

Spacer: Similar to a Divider, this option allows you to break up the content of your email. The height of the space may be adjusted as needed.

Video: The video component makes it easy to link to a video from your email. A play button is added to the image and it is linked directly to the video. We support Wistia and YouTube videos at this time.

Policies: Use this component in your emails to include a list of active insurance policies you have with a client. Click here to learn more about this component.

Signature: This component allows you to add a signature onto your email, and includes many customizable options for fields the signature can include: photo, phone number, text fields, and more.

Adding Merge Fields Into Your Email

Merge fields pull information from your integrated AMS into the Fuse email builder without you having to manually add it and adjust it per email recipient. Think of the marketing emails you receive, and how they always have your name correct–Fuse can do this too!

To add a Merge Field into your email, simply click the large “Insert” icon. From there, you will be presented with a host of options including names, policies, titles, and more based on your AMS.

Preview and Test

When you’re happy with your email in Fuse, it’s time to preview and test the email. You’ll see this option at the top of the email builder.

Clicking this button will bring up a test view of your email in both desktop and mobile views so you can see how your clients will experience your communications.

Important Note: the account pulled in as the recipient of the preview email is random. It does not reflect the actual audience segment selected for this email send.

How to Send a Test Email

Navigate to the top right bar in the preview screen, and select “Send Test.”

Clicking this option will allow you to enter an email address of your choice to which to send the test email. Simply click “Send” again in the pop-up window, and you’re all set!
